MCA
Once again, we were asked to sing and preach at the Mountaineer Challenge Academy at Camp Dawson on Sunday evening, September 14. This time we decided not to even worry about setting up the P.A. system, so we felt less hurried than usual. A young cadet came to open the doors for us so we could get our instruments ready.
Only two female cadets were in the service, but there were quite a few male cadets that showed up. They all appeared attentive. A few congregational songs started off the service, then we sang "He Lives in Me" (from Mountain Heritage). Mom also gave her testimony and sang a solo, commonly known as "Mom's Medley". Her testimony is always a blessing to hear, and she sings with a conviction backed by years of service to the Lord.
When Dad asked if anyone would like to give a testimony, several spoke up. It was good to hear how the Lord has been helping those who already know Him as their Savior.
We sang an a cappella number, "Jesus is the Sweetest Name I Know", and then Dad preached on "Why I Believe the Bible is the Word of God". Several did raise their hands that they had prayed the sinner's prayer, and we trust that they will continue to go on for the Lord.
It sure did feel good to be able to give out again, as we have been at our home church more in recent days. We hope to be with the MCA again in November. If only one of them goes on to preach or serve in a full-time ministry, it would thrill our hearts!
